About

Let me introduce myself. My name is Christine Griffiths and I received a bone marrow transplant in 1988 to overcome chronic myeloid leukaemia.

Having overcome this life threatening condition I decided to live my life to the full and in particular pursue a number of sporting activities at elite levels.

Some of my sporting achievements over recent years have been:
# Medalled (6 gold and 1 silver), Athletics and Table tennis, at the Victorian Police and Emergency Services Games 2007.
# Gold medal at the Victorian Masters Athletic championships, Long jump 2007.
# Medalled at the P & E.S Games (4 gold, 1 bronze), athletics and table tennis 2006.
# Gold and Bronze medals in Table Tennis at the World Transplant Games in Canada, 2005.
# Australian Sports Medal 2000.

I have also performed various volunteer roles and had the honour to participate in Olympic and Commonwealth Games torch relays as detailed below:
# Volunteer at the FINA World Swimming Championships 2007.
# Volunteer at the Commonwealth Games 2006.
# Carried Torch for the Torino Winter Olympics in Venice 2006.
# Volunteer Nurse at the Athens Olympics, 2004.
# Carried the torch for the Athens Summer Olympics in Melbourne, 2004.
# Volunteer with St. John Ambulance at the Sydney Olympics, 2000.

I am also a qualified Fitness Instructor.

When I am not pursuing my sporting endeavours, I work at the Bone Marrow
Donor Institute’s accommodation house in North Melbourne. Here I assist
with the care of families struggling with treatment and recovery from leukaemia and other life threatening cancers.

Thank you very much for visiting my website!
